From the ‘Free Players’ page, clicking on a player’s name will bring up a ‘Player Details’ window showing, amongst other things, any current bids for the player. You’ll be invited to submit a bid which should be a minimum of either £0 (if no bids have yet been received) or £50,000 higher than the latest bid. You don’t have to accept the defaults – you can enter any amount provided it is a multiple of £50,000 and doesn’t exceed your transfer fund. The field will accept a number of short-cuts (e.g. 3.6m, 50k) and will accept amounts either with or without commas. Once the bid is made, you’ll notice a new section on your team squad page giving details of bids in progress. This shows whether your bid is the active one (by a black tick) and the deadline for other bids – the deadline initially is set to 3 days after the first bid.
Entering a maximum bid amount for the player is optional, but doing so will add the player to your wish list. The main purpose of the wish list is to submit automatic bids on your behalf, and is useful for periods when you are unable to access the site. If a player on your wish list becomes available at any time during the season then automatic bids will be placed on your behalf, subject to your available funds at the time (and any other bidding restrictions), and up to the maximum amount you have entered. Maximum bid amounts can be entered using a variety of abbreviations, in the same way as normal bid amounts (e.g. 5.5m, 700k, etc). To remove a player from your wish list, simply enter a maximum bid amount of 0.
The 'Squad' page (or the old-style 'Teams' page) includes a 'Bids In Progress' section showing each player for whom you’ve submitted a bid. This includes a bid status - either a black tick or a red cross - and the bid expiry date. Clicking on the player's name within this section will bring up the 'Player Details' window.
A black tick as the bid status indicates that you have the latest bid and once the bid expiry date has passed the bid expiry date is replaced by the word 'Successful'. The player is now available for you to assign to your squad, and the 'Player Details' window will include a 'Sign Player' button. Until you call up the 'Player Details' page and sign the player, he remains available for other managers to make further bids.
A red cross indicates that you have been outbid for the player, but you can make further bids by calling up the 'Player Details' page. Any bid for a player made on or after the bid expiry date will reset the expiry to the following day
Once a rival manager has signed a player, the expiry date is replaced by the word 'Unsuccessful'. No further bids can be made for the player unless he is subsequently released.
If you have the current bid for a player you may withdraw it by clicking the 'Withdraw Bid' button. This removes the player from your bids in progress and reinstates the next highest bid. You may subsequently re-enter the bidding, if you wish, by accessing the 'Player Details' page from the 'Free Players' menu option.
If you have no further interest in a player he can be removed from your 'Bids In Progress' list by clicking the 'Remove Player' option. However, the player will be reinstated if your bid becomes active as a result of another manager withdrawing their bid.
The 'Player Details' window will not allow you to submit a bid for a player, under the following circumstances:
In order to resolve these restrictions, you may wish to remove from your squad a player whom you have already signed. Unless the system is in the 'Protected Bidding' stage (generally 1 week before the first Dream League fixture), you will be able to do this by clicking on the player's name to bring up the 'Player Details' window and then clicking the 'Release Player' button. The fee you paid for the player will be added back into your transfer fund, but if you subsequently resume bidding for the player you will not be able to submit a bid that is less than the fee you originally paid.
