At the end of the 2023/2024 season the Freudian Dream League sadly turned off all its machinery, switched off the lights and closed its doors. After more than 25 years of the game I decided, with no little regret, that the time had come to call it a day. Whether you've been with us right from the start or have joined recently, I'd like to thank you all for your support and encouragement - this was an extremely difficult decision to make, believe me.
It's been great fun running it throughout this time, from the early days when we used to hold the player auctions at the start of the season in The Ship And Pelican, with Yvonne acting as secretary to record who bought which player, to the days when we moved it onto the World Wide Web - mainly because Tech Services were getting twitchy about hosting it on the works servers. In between there have been some important milestones that helped the game progress and there will always be a special place in our hearts for Phil Randles who was tragically taken from us far too early. Phil introduced the game to the Birmingham Office - using his Induction Course presentation to drum up support - and Bella League was created there for the new members he recruited.
The FDL game may be over but we can hopefully shuffle over to something else, and I'll be creating some private FDL League(s) on the following national platforms:
